How to Get Involved
As a member of our Community of Champions, we ask that you provide at least one job for a student at Memphis Catholic. Four students from each grade level form a team that shares a single job. Each student in the group will work five full days per month: one day each week, rotating Fridays between the four of them. Academic schedules are structured around this work schedule, so the students will miss no class whatsoever.
Memphis Catholic High School is the employer and handles all of the transportation, payroll, benefits, taxes and insurance coverage. If you choose to join our Community of Champions, your business or organization will sign a fee-for-service contract with Memphis Catholic High School for $20,000 per job, which essentially outsources the job to the school. This allows for each student on the team to earn $5,000 towards his or her tuition; that represents well over half of one student’s yearly tuition. Students will report to work starting August 22nd through the end of May. Exceptions will be our Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Spring breaks.
The students work in a variety of fields processing paperwork, answering phones, filing, copying—all while learning the fundamentals of professionalism and hard work. They will be trained in a three-week work-study camp to learn the basics of copying, filing, faxing, receptionist duties, data entry, inter-office mail, etc.
